Dots in the sky

City square, GwangJu, Korea
Design Congress held in GwangJu, “Future City GwangJu: Prayer”, a
monument will be inaugurated that is meant to celebrate design and
become a symbol of the city. The monument consists of seven large,
identical sculptural elements that stand 15 meters tall and are
positioned in a circle, creating an inner space. Each element is an
iron framework covered with a stretched cloth that is decorated with
polychrome patterns. Each element can rotate and tilt, making this
moveable monument able to execute a kind of sculptural ballet that
includes sound and light. This project is meant to be a symbol of
lightness, peace and friendliness. In time, its cloth decors will be
changed and replaced with work by other artists.
